Title: 69 Z28 exhaust manifolds
Post by: Terry69RSZ28 on May 16, 2016, 01:59:31 AM
Hi All,
Would late January manifolds (A24, A30) be acceptable and/or possible on a March 03E build date?
Thanks, Terry

I don't think any judging organization would have an issue with that (assuming they had some means to read the dates).. :)

Hi Gary and Darrell,
I have an opportunity to purchase this set for my Z. Just want to ensure these are acceptable for my build date-they are in the two month range. Thanks for your input.

Mine are much closer together.  If it helps the originals on mine are dated L-9-8 and L-12-8 for a 12D built car.

Hi,
Now I am wondering if I should try and locate ones closer to my build date or go with the late January ones. What do others think?

Well, you can't see the dates when installed.....

Hi Kurt and others,
I am completing the restoration on my Z and having original dated parts is important, particularly ones that would fit the build date of my car. I know you can't see the dates but some cars have exhaust manifolds very close and some have ones further away from the build date. I just want to do this right...

I understand what you are saying ... but since you have no means of knowing what the car came with (dates wise), and there is a large variance in the date range, your 2 months is fine.  Personally if I were purchasing exhaust manifolds I'd be more concerned with the 'condition' than I would be with the dates.

Many car judging organizations allow up to 6 months without questions due to the variance in these dates when manufactured ... the parts were not FIFO.. they were not a 'perishable' item... :)

Hi Gary,
You certainly said it well for my understanding. The manifolds are mint so I think I will buy them since it fits into the acceptable month range variance for parts.
Thanks, Terry
