Interesting...I guess we will see some more Z's and L78 cars hitting the road soon.

That's a lot of money for a blank tag.
I am pretty sure the reproduction tags that are offered are actually stamped on to original NOS "blanks" same as these.

No doubt. Pull up "Addressograph" on eBay sometimes - I've seen blank trim tags and even P-O-P blanks (with the Chevrolet Bow Tie stamping) up for auction on there before, sometimes by the hundreds. Machines, too -
