Repro tag.
Interesting. NOR233724 is green on green Z. It looks like a different car than this one, but maybe there was firewall repair work that just makes the body look different.

being a 02A wouldn't the tach also max at 7k - or when did the change happen to 8k?

02A is approximately when the 8k tach went into production. Either was used for a short time.

I messaged him about the tag & he replied "it was damaged while cleaning with a wire wheel the metal is very thin " ...,

I have an 02A Z and my tach is the same and my car was built shortly after this one.
