Title: 15 inch rally wheels
Post by: Barry J on March 12, 2016, 10:28:18 PM
I have a 67 Camaro conv. I have been running chrome rims 14x6 with 185/70/14 in front and 245/60/14 in back. One thing to note is I went small in front due to rubbing. Also, when I put the 245/60/14 in front , they rub.
But right now I have a set of steel rally wheels on which are 15 inch and running 215/75/15 in front with no rub.
I want to keep with the 15 inch combo, so that I can install disc brakes, also I like the look better.
But, I want a better looking tire (prob. white lettered) to go on the 15 inch rims.
Could somebody suggest a tire size I can install in the front, with those 15 inch tires, that will not rub??
The car has standard suspension, no drop.
 Thanks
 Barry

Barry, where does the tire rub? if it's rubbing the frame or sway bar, it could be due to the width of the tire. If it rubs elsewhere it might be the diameter (too big around). I run a 60-series 15 inch radial, I think it's a 225. I chose BF Goodrich T/A's.

I can't remember ever rubbing in the front, unless during some weird downhill angle while turning sharp.

I have no idea if drum brakes vs disc will change your "offset", but I feel like that should stay the same

Barry,
Factory Disc brake 14" rally wheels will accept factory disc brakes, what width wheel do you plan on using? Factory 15" rally's come in 5, 6, 7, 8".

On my 1969 I have 245/60/15 BFG on 15 x 7 factory rally wheels.
No rubbing.
