Title: Reconditioning Rubber Bumpers
Post by: Boston14 on February 12, 2016, 02:02:57 AM
I need some help on how to recondition my rear axle frame rail bumpers. They are actually in pretty good condition (rubber is still pliable and there are no cuts, splits, or dry rot).  But the color and overall appearance is dirty looking.  Should I wash in soapy water?  Then should they be treated with something?  I know they should not be shiney.  I would appreciate any answers.  Thanks.

A good plan is to start with Warm water & mild detergent (Soap).
Then Black Magic Bleche-Wite Tire Cleaner
pat dry and some kind of low shine tire or rubber conditioner.

You might be surprised how well that hand cleaner cleans and conditions rubber parts (not the kind with pumice grit, but either gojo or goop with lanolin and glycerine in it)...   wash the parts with soap/warmwater first, then use your hands to rub over the parts liberally coated with the goop/gojo...  I have even left small rubber parts down in the GOJO container awhile..  :)
