I have an O9D Z28
looking for a date code correct 1111480 distributor, and a 12bolt.
the trim tag is 09D and the engine stamp agrees.
question is - how early could a 12bolt be to be accurate?
and same with distributor?
thanks

09D of 1968, or 09D of 1969? :)
Note: my differential is 3 weeks ahead of the car; my distributor is 3 months earlier than the engine (which is earlier than most I think)... but there's no magic date.. parts were not installed on a FIFO basis.

The 480 distributor for my 07A (July 10th) car is 9E16 (May 16th)
The BU rear axle has a E269 (May 26th) casting date and a 0630 (June 30th) assembly date.
Engine casting E219 (May 21st) assembly date V0528DZ (May 28th)
M20 Trans P9H20A (June 20th)
Starter #8367 9F23 (June 23rd)
Alternator #837 9E23 (May 23rd)
Cylinder head #186 9E16 (May 16th)
DZ carb #4053 952 (May 2nd week)
All born with components

very helpful - and I've seen that 9E16 distributor quite a bit - so i'm guessing they stamped a TON of them on the same day for future production... just wondering if other was a later batch.

Yes, the 480's and 937's are batched...
FWIW it seems as though rear ends were the closest dated assemblies for 69's I have personally worked on or seen more than 20 cars with rears dated with-in 5 days of shipping dates.
Here are 4 off the top of my head...
69z 10D axle 1031
69yenko 01B 0119
69Z 04C 0418 0423 ship date
