Throttle shaft seized. Soaked in carb cleaner for couple months. Still froze up. Would soaking in transmission fluid help??

Acetone (good nail polish remover)mixed 50-50 with trans fluid. Warm the pivot points with a propane torch. Careful with the torch as not to melt any plastic bushings or catching solvents on fire. Also, do not heat the spring that returns the throttle on the shaft. I would put the throttle plate in a vise. Use a vise grip clamped to the linkage throttle lever end and use it as a fulcrum to work shaft back and forth.

This mixture works sooooo much better compared to Liquid Wrench.

Good shot of PB Blaster or Kroil will do it. Either one of those are my chemicals of choice when it comes to loosening plugs from exhaust manifolds. If you've ever tried that, you'll know how seized they get. A few applications of PB (which gets into millionths-of-an-inch openings) usually does the trick -

I have a frozen Q-jet too.
I heated it up with a heat gun and put the trans oil / acetone mix at the shaft / throttle body interface. Multiple times. I can feel the throttle shaft twisting - I'm afraid it may shear off. At this point I think I have to take the throttle plates off and press out the shaft unless someone has any other ideas.
The secondary shaft is locked up too - it's a lot harder to get a grip on to even try to rotate.

I have never tried PB Blaster on a carb but that is GOOD stuff on other things that are seized.
I am pretty surprised that a soaking in carb cleaner for a few months didn't help. Was it fresh?

I haven't tried it myself but I heard Marvel Mystery Oil can be used to remove aluminum oxide buildup which is probably what is locking the throttle shaft. Maybe soaking it in that will help. I'd certainly try it if it were mine.

I would remove the base from the carb and soak it in a can of Gunk carb parts cleaner.

Here's a little tip and do this at your own risk as I am not held responsible if you break your down stuff.. ;)
It works with 2 different metals like steel and aluminum have fused together.. Heat up with a propane torch then pour cold water over it. Repeat several times and eventually they will free up.. It is essentially expanding and contracting the metals to break the bond the 2 differing metals have made. Do this with caution as if they are fragile parts or near fragile parts then be very careful.

Sorry I keep forgetting to purchase some acetone. I'm putting it on my get r done list. The carb I'm working on is the factory born q jet from a friend's 73 Z/28. Also need to purchase small torch.
