Jon not sure of the history of this car but I believe it could have something to do with Smokey? I have an inventory sheet from Courtesy Chevrolet Arizona from Bill Z. that has in the notes Gibbs Chevy & Dick Harrell Courtesy delivery to Daytona Florida. It is a Chevelle.
Vin 138378K219343 or 138378B219343 it has no plant ID.Paint is EE.

There's no evidence Yunick did anything with a '68 Chevelle. He was the ultimate insider and probably didn't have to buy anything from Chevy. Also he had a GMC dealership. A car could have been shipped directly to him.
-
Didn't say it was for Smokey could have been a privately owned/ customer car.
-
That's exactly what you said.
"Jon not sure of the history of this car but I believe it could have something to do with Smokey?"

Something to do with Smokey nowhere did I say purchased by Smokey....
-
Tim, I'm not aware of Smokey doing anything with a '68 Chevelle. That is interesting that it came from Gibb/Harrell and went to Courtesy in Phoenix then over to Daytona. Maybe they should have sent it up to Maine and then over to Washington State for the full "See the USA" effect. ;D

Any Chevelles you know of in road racing ?
-
Nope. I can't think of one.
-
It may have been one of Smokeys NASCAR projects......

runutz & Jon, not exactly on topic, but answering the Question of a Chevelle in road racing in post 7. here is the Marius Amiot Chevelle at Tremblant (St. Jovite) on july 11th. 1966, ran in a production race. there was also a Pontiac Beaumont (Canadian Pontiac version of the Chevelle) run quite successfully by Serge Adams, and also Ross de St. Croix (spelling ?)
