im new here so not sure how all this works. I have what i believe is a somewhat rare 69 ss. i have read on this site that a power window with verification on the trim tag is somewhat rare. i need to take pic of the trim tag & show it on here.
-
also have 512 engine block partial vin of (9n632485
-
Whats the suffix on the 512?
-
Is the block the correct one for your car? Does the partial VIN match your VIN?
Post a pic of that too if you can.
Also I may split this out into a separate thread.
-
well if this is the kind of responce you get at this forem im not sure any of this will help. i ask real questions & got b/s in return. my car hasa272 castng 396 in it. the block i have seperately.
real car/ real block

smitty. There are more camaro scammers than enthusiasts these days. If you are having trouble posting pictures, resize them on a resizing web site to make them smaller so they will post. I had help getting that figured out. After you post pics I'm sure you'll get plenty of help.

Did you ask a question that you needed an answer to?? if so, I missed it. We also need more information in order to provide an accurate *response*... You apparently have a '69 you think might be rare due to PW?? and you have a big block engine. What do you need to know? Have you accessed and read thru relevant sections of the CRG data base?
Go here... http://camaros.org/ read a bit... then come back and provide additional information (photos?) of your car and pose your concerns and/or questions, and I dare say you will get the help you want.

Let's not throw people under the bus so fast. :)
If you have specific questions on the tag - post a photo.
-
Chevrolet made two different 512 blocks. A small block and a big block. Which one do you have?
-
The SBC block with casting number ending in "512" was mainly used for service engines (think CE) but has been seen in some limited use in production vehicles.
So yes, which "512" block do you have?
-
i need to take pic of the trim tag & show it on here.
Smitty, please do that. Plenty of help available here but need a place to start from.
-
I think those negative posts are completely off-base. Smitty made no foul, but several negative replies were made (which I will delete).
That will not happen here.
Please email me if this is not clear!
-
My thinking as well. Thanks Kurt.
-
THANK YOU, KURT.
-
Just finished my "Humble Pie" and it was not good.
Sincere apologies to smitty, CRG community and site.
It is not my job to police who posts or what is posted. smitty's unconventional style of posts, IMO, & being a member as long as he has, I questioned his sincerity, and for that, I crossed a line for which I see that I was wrong and I am sorry.
-
I'm letting all the members and guests of this site know that I also crossed the line and I do apologize. Shouldn't be too quick to throw others under the bus. I've been exchanging email with smitty. He still can't get picture to post. He has sent pic of trim tag to me. I'm posting it for him.

smitty's tag

thanx for all the help. hope this helps clear up what i was refering to. the block i have is a 60 over 427 block. i posted the partial vin,ill look closer at it see if i can find mo4re numbers i cant seem to find the part on the crg site i was refering to about the power window code being added to trim tag
.,
-
Need a bigger and better pic. My first thought is its a fake tag.
-
Never seen a power window option code on a 69 tag or a D80A. Doesn't look legit to me.
-
go to the research page & you,ll see it. page says to contact kurt sonen for this type of tag. C R G research. thats the only reason i posted it.
-
The power windows code isnt what makes me think it's a fake tag. And when I say fake I mean reproduction. But I'm no expert.
-
Found it. Have you contacted Kurt?

Hello Carl, (Smitty/smitty69) welcome back again.
Did you ever get your BB a/c part question/or questions you once referenced about in a previous thread ? If not, ask away with a new thread. You will get the right answers here.
http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=11546.msg91721#msg91721
I presume this was/and is the same "very rare 69" trim tag we're talking about again. Is this the one with PW's and a fold down rear seat ? If so we'd like to know more.

smitty, welcome to CRG. Keep in touch with Kurt on this.
-
So there Fisher Body tags with an "A" suffix. That's a new one on me. Has the meaning been determined?
-
Its a reproduction tag.
-
See http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#XnnCodes. Not common, but then neither is power windows. :)
Though it's not the best picture, I have to agree, it's not an original tag.
