Title: 1969 Z/28 authenticated by the a member of the CRG?
Post by: BULLITT65 on December 10, 2015, 01:59:31 AM
Hey Guys just ran across this 69 Z.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-Z-28-/171973884298?forcerrptr=true&hash=item280a71398a:g:JrIAAOSwyvBV90sg&item=171973884298
I thought it was interesting that the seller says the motor was authenticated original by a judge and member of the CRG, but then doesn't say anything about the trans or rear end which he states as an original 3.55 :1. Would have been nice to see the canadian docs.

Just curious Which CRG member authenticated this car, and did all canadian Camaros have a factory sticker on the passenger side wheel well documenting it as such?

The CRG does not judge, certify, authenticate or appraise Camaros.

Thanks Bentley didn't realize it was same car, as when they were asking 95k for it. good catch
Although now it seems to be authenticated by a member here? (this was added since the last time, and it is what caught my attention.)

Typical dealer blurb. I guess the inference is that the Judge and CRG member is JM, he is listed as a Core Member (2nd row of pictures, http://www.camaros.org/aboutcrg.shtml#Members) but why not state that, and post the appraisal certificate if so?

Well I thought of that, but Jerry M has enough name recognition, much more than our little corner of the web with the CRG. So either a CRG member here , who has judged a show looked at his motor, or he is just trying to infer that it is Jerry.
But if you paid the big money to have Jerry look at your car, your stating it and at least putting up a pic of the certificate. So IMO not Jerry, and doesn't even have to be a core member, it just says member, well guess what it could have been any of us since we are all considered members

People that mention the CRG in ads are asked to remove it as it was used without permission. No one has permission to use the name in trade.

Need to change some thinking here. Your statement "But if you paid the big money to have Jerry look at your car..." is misleading. IMHO Jerry should charge far more than he does. A certain former speed shop owner will charge you far more than that to look through a box of paperwork. Not one of his cars? TS. Want your Corvette certified? Burn some vacation time, trailer it hundreds of miles, check into a hotel for several days.

Jerry's certifications are reasonably priced and well worth it.

How does one go about contacting Jerry to do a certification? I'm sure he's extremely busy. Is email better or by phone call?

It looks like the owner & car are in High Ridge, Mo., a town just south of St. Louis, and it reads that is for sale with a consignment center, or company,  in northern IL.  Every consignment place I have talked to the owner writes up the description of what is being sold.
The ad says,, born with engine,,  the last sentence says ,,the same can be said for the rest of the driveline.

My point was that anyone who has paid to have Jerry perform his services is investing a bit of extra Money( not a small amount) and then not to list his name, or show a pic of the certificate is doing his client and the car a dis-service. So it would be surprising for them not to do either or.

You will find most people selling a JM inspected car will post the certificate but won't post the gig sheet(s).This seller brokers cars for the high end cleintale.

I actually wish JM wouldn't give out the certificates, just the detail sheets. Too many ads post the certs which don't say much, not the detail sheets which have the real story on the car.

I get that.. I am constantly asking for a scan/close up picture of the 2nd and 3rd pages. People are sometimes surprised that I know there is more than one page. They thought they were just going to post the first page. I like to ask for the COMPONENT ISSUES page. Then you see sometimes the Carb/Dist./Alt/fan and clutch/water pump/coil etc. are all incorrect. Adding up to a quick $10,000! D

I've seen this car forsale before several months back.   I think they wanted something close to 6 figures before.  Looks to me they finally came down to a more realistic number and the car sold.
