I am trying to source a 105DD deep groove power steering pulley for my 1969 Z/28 project and was offered the one in the following photos. I would appreciate input on whether it's an original or repop:

Best way to tell is have a known original in your hand. The orig. will be a bit heavier than the reproduction. The pulley in the pics. above looks very similar to the re-pop I compared them to. I cant say for sure.

Steve, I agree that is the best way to make a determination however as I don't have a known-original 105DD pulley available to me I need to rely on the available photos.

Well all I can say is the original I found had hash marks from the stamp dies. The repops are smooth. No hash marks seen in your picture.
I will try to get some pics. of what I'm referring to but may be impossible while installed.

Steve, are the "hash marks" you're referring to the same as the marks shown in this photo? (NOS - photo reference).

Yes. Those marks are not on the repops. I hope someone else chimes in on this, But I now believe you have a good one. Mine is a GM NOS part not factory installed and has the hash marks.

Front view w/"hash marks" This is a photo of a known NOS 105DD as reference, and NOT a photo of the pulley in the earlier thread photos I am trying to verify.

I see. I would look for one like above. They are still around.

Lloyd, Here's my original 105DD. The PS pump is off with pulley still attached. IMHO the first pics you show look like a repop. The p/n stamp appears thicker and the numbers appear closer to one another (or it's the angle of your pic) :-\ and not as crisp looking.
My stamp (spacing and size) looks identical to the last pic of the NOS pulley you posted.
Hope this helps

Yes, helpful, thanks Darrell.

The pulley I'm trying to evaluate weighs 14.25 oz.

Here's some pics of the original PS Pulley on my Z for reference:

Unfortunately, it's attached to the pump and I can't easily remove it to weight it.

Thanks Hans.
Would appreciate further input on the subject pulley:
- PN is present however the stamping is light and fragmented
- PN is in the correct location, with the correct font and point size
- Letter P stamp is in the correct location
- Hash marks are absent

If I compare the pulley you are considering to the HBC Repro, I would be concerned, though the picture is not very clear. It appears the originals have a finer font for the stampings

Here's another claimed original that sold on Yenko.net:

Tough call, but thinner fonts seem to be original.

I just weighed mine at 16.08 ounces, although that's on a digital kitchen scale (ears still ringing, wife spotted me with car parts in the kitchen again....).
Hope others can weigh in (pun intended) to confirm their pulley weight, mine has a small amount of paint missing from the rear face but is still nearly 2oz more than yours Lloyd.

Tim, that's great data, thanks for making the effort to weigh your pulley.
