Title: Were lower control arms painted as a whole too?
Post by: Mike S on November 18, 2015, 11:34:58 PM
I know the upper control arm was painted as a complete assembly with the arm, dog bone, bushings and end caps. But, were the lower control arms painted as a whole assembly too with the bushings installed? I know the ball joints were added later hence no paint. I just pressed in a set of bushings into the painted lower arms but it just clicked if the bushings too need to be painted.

Thank You,
Mike

Mike, I'm pretty sure the lower arms were dip painted. The ends of my 67 at the ball joints had no sign of being painted.

Hi Bud,
Do you know or see if the bushings were black? That sounds logical to have the whole assembly dipped (minus the ball joint) like the upper arm assembly.
Thanks for replying. You should stop by if you go out east one day.

Thanks!
Mike

Here is a photo I took on the weekend at MCACN of Skip's 21K mi 69 Z (Norwood, 9D [1969]) Time Capsule. There is no paint on the lower control arm bushings:

Excellent view of the bushing and finish.
Thank you, Lloyd!
