I thought I had posted here about my 69 Camaro SSRS from France.
VIN # is 124379N550140
Oct 68 Build in the Norwood (N) OH Plant, shipped to France as Overseas Sales.
I purchased the car 16 years ago thru the Co-Worker of the Owner, He was here on a work Visa, came down with Cancer and passed away, so I purchased the Car from his Widow.
I did not know if there was a Data Base for the VIN #'s for our Cars, I see one for lost Paperwork.
The Info I have for the car is, when I bought it, it had 34,718 Kilometers (21,050 Miles)
Originally 350 Cu In, 300 HP (L-48) TH350 Automatic
Options:SS/RS
Power Windows
Tilt Steering Wheel
Simulated Rosewood Steering Wheel
Fold Down Rear Seat
Rear Antenna.
Now - 427 Cu In .060” Over, 434HP / 483TQ
700R4 Automatic Transmission
Classic Auto Air Conditioning
12 Bolt Posi w/ 4:11 Rear Gears

welcome! Your car is about 500 after my SS. You sure that the car is an October build and not a Nov. 4th week?
You might want to dig deeper in looking at the numbers and post pics of firewall tag and dash VIN and Hidden VIN.
-
Bentley is right.. that VIN would be very near the end of November '68 production.

That is why we have these Places to go for Info -
You are right,
Nov-68 21359 7919 9L510583 3952 9N551862 21525, If I did my Math right, 1,722 Built after my Car till the End of November, 1968. Very Good, Thanks and my Partial VIN of 9N550140 is visible under the Cowl reading it looking towards the Front and Under the Heater Blower Motor - All checks out.
I also have the French Title and Marker Plates.
I do have Pictures of when I brought it home, I will try and scan them. I tried sending a few shots but they were too big.
Thanks again, I will have to change my Info on some of my Posts else ware.

What is that extra firewall tag>?
-
Hi Bullitt65
That is my
General Motors (FRANCE) ID Tag.
I believe this style tag is used for the "Overseas Sales" Vehicles.

Very cool. I wonder if the tag was the same for 67 and 68?
I assume the 350A referred to the 350 motor and automatic trans?
-
67 and 68, I do not know.
Yes, a 350 w/ TH350.

Upon importation to the destination country, the cars were then modified to meet local requirements as needed, e.g. seatbelts, driving lights, mirrors, etc. and often had a homologation tag attached to the firewall.
The 67-9 French tags looked the same.
This car did have a Norwood tag on it at one time - it's believed to originally have been gold.
Tim,
Does it still the original axle in it?
I have these options as probably being on the car from new:
A31 A67 D55 G80 J52 L48 N33 N34 N40 U17 U63 U73 Z22 Z27 Z87

This is the French tag from my 67 RS Convertible, 327, powerglide. Looks basically the same.

Timmy,
My 67 has a "Custom Chevrolet" badge on the dash above the glove compartment. See photo. Does yours?
Thanks
