Title: Another underbody question...
Post by: hotrod68 on December 02, 2006, 04:48:05 AM
I've read all the links that Rich sent me and some more besides, as well as JohnZ's excellent assembly documentary post. One question remains vague--at what point were the fuel and brake hard lines put on? My AIM talks about "Body Drop" and shows all the relevant mechanical references, but it seems to jump around as far as the actual chronology of assembly. I'm debating trying to re-create a factory appearance under my car, and it would be great to know if the hard liines were already installed and subject to the body paint overspray. I guess I'm just dense or have missed something, but I haven't figured this one out yet. If the body was already painted at "body drop" then I guess there would be no overspray on the lines, shocks, etc...  Also, excellent information about the cowl blackout--I never knew there wasn't a nice, taped separation line. You guys amaze me with your knowledge and thanks for all the support!

The body was already in full paint before it left Fisher... before the body drop... way before.
