Title: Fender striping on Rally Sport z's
Post by: jdv69z on November 30, 2006, 09:45:18 PM
Did Rally sport Z's come with the striping on the front fenders and rear quarters? Or was this deleted with the rally sport package?

Thanks,

Jimmy V.

All striping related to other options (like RS and Z21) was deleted on Z/28's; RS/Z-28's and X33 Z/28's had no stripes except the Z stripes on the hood and deck.

Jimmy,

John is right; however, if a customer wanted the D96 fender pin strips, the dealer would add them as a dealer add-on.  My RS Z28 had them on the car but I left them off the car after the restoration because I personally think with the "Z28" strips, the fender stripes look too busy.  I think this is why Chevrolet design did not include them as a std. option with the RS Z28.   It just depends on someone's personal tastes, but “technically” they did not come on a RS Z28.

Note that the front fender strip is painted too low and extends down onto the lower fender extension.  Ref. the factory AIM, pp. 250: the strip should stop 0.08” (about 3/4") above the ender extension break line.

Do you know if your car had these stripes painted on originally?
