Title: Thoughts on Interior
Post by: ban617 on September 27, 2015, 02:09:51 AM
I have a 69 Daytona Yellow Z/28 ,original with Standard 711 interior , I like the Yellow Deluxe interior , my question is how much would this affect  the value going with the Yellow Deluxe over the Standard Black ?

Well a couple different ways to look at it. If you "like" it I assume you are going to hold onto the car and enjoy the interior of your choice. If you are planning to sell it in the near future it may be in your best interest to go with stock color interior. I think the majority of buyers would be more interested with the car stock, and it speaks to the originality of the rest of your car Vs. the thinking "well if he changed the interior color what else did he change? (is it even a real Z)"
I doubt anyone else will be able to throw out a number without you posting some pics of your car in this thread.

Is the rest of the car original, drivetrain? If it isn't, then changing the interior won't matter much to the value when you sell it because the sale is about looks and not originality. It may even help the sale price.

Yes it is a real Z/28 , Pretty much all original except the exhaust & windshield , All the original parts are there

I agree with Austin's prior post...  He should keep the orig int or change it.. based on his own likes... and what his future plans for the car are.  Does the interior need to be updated, or is the original still serviceable?  If he would LIKE the car better himself if he changed to yellow interior, then maybe he should do so.. (Interiors can be fairly easily changed).. but he should be aware that the Yellow (and orange) houndstooth seats are not for everyone... I've heard many say that they couldn't drive a car with such an interior... When I first got a peek at my car's interior (before I purchased it), my initial thought was 'UGH"... :) ..  but after I thought about how different it was, I began to change my mind... (but I'm a bit odd, as I like to be 'different' from the crowd).. :)   (and NO, we don't need 20 more posts agreeing with my last comment!).. :)

PS.  A few months after I purchased my 72/720 Z28-RS, I came across an almost identically optioned car (in yellow!) for sale.. only a few miles away.. ($1900)... solid car all there.. I wanted it also!  :)    but wifey put a stop to that thought.. :)

IMO I would leave it as complete & original as possible if it's that close now. To do a complete 714 interior requires the wood grain trim around the ash tray & glove box area & that requires some welding of holes if you want to go back in the future. The other problem is nobody makes correct 714 interior. The vinyl is not the heavy weight Madrid & it's too bright. The vinyl should be closer to Daytona yellow. The cloth should be a golden yellow, not just yellow. I guess if you did everything it would look ok, but I would just leave it...Joe

I had forgot about the wood grain & Dash grab handle , I think it will stay the simple 711 standard black thanks for the input tho.

IF you wanted to get an extra set of seat cores and put yellow HT on them because I know that the HT cloth or REAL comfort weave seats are much cooler when using the car.
