My friend bought this car brand new from our local Chevrolet dealership. These pictures are approx. 10 months after purchase.
Wrong air filter with no 302 sticker ?? Or just no sticker ??
Alternator bracket mounted back side ??... Says he didn't change it.
Extra long battery ground cable ??Or at least longer than mine and many I have seen.
Booster plating ?? Looks pretty plain.. or is it plane?
Trying to get the VIN...
Is this car already in the data base by the license plate number?? .. Danny

Sweet! Love those black plate '68 RS Z/28s! :)
Looks like he pulled the rear bumper guards right away. Does he still own it?

Long gone... Hoping he can get me the VIN...D
-
Danny, what dealer sold it? Looks like it has "302" emblems too! :)

It looks like he put beefier meats on the rear & most likely air shocks...
-
Heres a larger engine photo. Not very common but have seen air cleaners without decals.
-
The others blown up. None spoiler originally also.

Love the color, all the Camaros I've seen around here growing up, only 1 that color, 68 RS, same guy still owns it and has as long as I remember, still beautiful. May have bought new. In his day, guy( and his family) were beasts Could cruise up to the lake and leave the Z sit with those guys--no worries.
-
It was also pretty common to buy a new air cleaner top through parts department without the decal. They were cheap.
-
Thanx for punching those pictures up. I need to learn how to do that while keeping the same file size.
I will be meeting with him in a couple days to return the pic's. I will ask about 302 emblems, spoiler.
Air cleaner looks too concave in the wing nut center. D
-
I dont see anything wrong with it.. :-\
Air cleaner that is.. Only problem I see is it isnt mine.. ;D
-
Looks like it may have the '302' markers rather than the later Z2/8 versions - probably means it was an early build car (prior to late Feb)..
-
The '68 Z I had from '71 to '73 had CA black plates "VND 987" Pretty close!
-
Also missing the rear bumper guards.
-
Have a feeling lots of guys lost them ASAP. Never knew until about 10 years ago they even came with them, or did anyone ever bring it up about mine. When I spoke to #1 owner, wasn't a mentionable to him. Maybe considered more of a station wagon item. Before my time.

I am starting to believe that some of the early 8's the guards were still an option vs the latter being standard.

The letter "Z" doesn't show that well with Corvette bronze. ...Joe

IMO, agree.

Talked to my friend Joe today about this car. He said he can't remember if there was a sticker on the air cleaner or not. And the spoiler was probably added at the dealership. He didn't move the alt. brackets to the back. So who knows... ??? He is going to look for the VIN. We will see... D
