Title: Rear Axle Code on my 67 RSSS
Post by: rd67RSSS on November 28, 2006, 09:37:06 PM
The axle code on my 67 RSSS convertible which is a Norwood 06C car is PC1011G which is a 12 bolt with an open 3.31 ratio.  I have been informed that the PC alxe I have was no longer available/used after maybe Jan. 67.

I talked with a previous owner who drag raced the car in the 70's and 80's who said he changed out the rear end years ago.  He said the original rear end had the square traction bar and was a 3.31 posi unit.   I checked in the current axle and it appears I have a posi carrier and 3.31 GM gears dated coded 66.

I would like to install the correct coded rear end back in the car and see from a CRG article on the L30/M20 that in 67 the 3.31 posi units were coded PF, QK, or QR.

Based on the assemble and useage of these three rear end codes, which codes were available and used on 67 Norwood 06C cars?

Thanks.

Look for a QK axle.  It will be the easiest to find, and will be the most correct for your car.
