Title: 68 SS/RS L34 or L35 Camaro
Post by: cook_dw on September 10, 2015, 02:00:52 AM
Not a bad price if the car is solid as described..

I thought not a bad price if everything is there. Missing the block, a big hit. The car can definitely be restored, I think a more realistic price would be around the 10-12k. Just my 2 cents

I agree 10-12 would be a better price..  I guess if it were 1 year newer it could bring 18-20k..   ::)    ;D

Well after helping my neighbor look, I would agree 69's do bring more, BUT for this car even if it was a BB, in its current condition, I would still say your right around 14 maybe 15 tops. Maybe a guy in the rust belt would see it and it may look like gold, but there is some work there.

I watched the auction on this car last week.  It ended with, "Reserve not met" at $7695.00

Darrell, go ahead and make an offer.  I'm sure Austin would be happy to pick it up and store it for you!  :)

That last bidding session goes to show people that are knowledgeable about restoration are only willing to pay so much.

It's a solid car where it counts but I'd just about guarantee once you get into it you'll find some stuff, and saving all the original front sheet metal likely wouldn't be worth the time.  Both of those fenders took a pretty good hit as evidenced by the severe wrinkles in the wheel arch areas on both sides, right where they normally fold in a frontal impact.   You can almost bet they have been shoved back slightly towards the doors.  Even after spending the time to straighten those fenders you'll probably have even more fun getting the gaps right, and they may never be right after a hit like that.   Better off finding another used pair that are better to start with.

I always get a chuckle out of these adds when people use terms like "Easy Restoration" or "Little needed"   ::)   If that were true then why aren't they restoring it themselves??   There is almost always nothing easy or cheap about this stuff, and they know it.

I think you guys hit the nail on the head, $10-$12k is pushing the limits of what I feel it's worth.  Otherwise you'll be in over your head quickly on this one and still never have a matching number car.

Sure no problem. I have a spot for 3 vehicles right now, my problem is trying to figure out how to get my vehicles from Indiana to So Cal.

I guess its a double edged sword..  Either you buy a car because you think you can make a buck or because you love it..  I am the latter..

Im sure Austin would get cooties from being near such a classy car like a 68..   ;D

Again if I were rich I would make him an offer..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am also the latter, I have an oddball collection simply because I like most everything.  At the same time I don't pay more than what the market bares.  We all hate to admit it but we all get old, this stuff gets sold, some of it is handed down.  So I'm careful, I don't like loosing my tail anymore than the next guy.

Austin, I've made a few trips across country with my truck and enclosed trailer to Ohio.  I'll be making another at some point, not sure when though.  If I have room I'd be more than happy to bring something back for you to at least AZ and store it here till you can pick it up.   Much easier trip up this way  ;)

Darrell I have all sorts of issues I have 2 fords, 3 brands of motorcycles, and have just ordered a GMC product, just to get the larger motor. (Chevrolet seemed fit to only offer it in there truck line, but not SUV). BTW I would like to see a mopar in my future.

All this from a kid that grew up with european imports, and not a American car, Let alone a muscle car in sight?
I just don't have the pocket book for the european cars I want, (yet).

But there are many past import and domestic cars that are beautiful works of art.

Larry your offer is to good to pass up.

 I will email you.

10-4
Another possibility is that since I'm on the market for another Camaro or Nova, a lot of them that interest me seem to be in LA or San Diego.  If I wind up over there at some point I can always bring it to you and save you the trip.   I just don't know yet how fast all this is going to happen.

interesting seems like all the first gens I see in this area are over priced. I have not looked at novas though.
Getting back to this camaro, If restore with a NOM BB what would it be worth 25-30k?

I'm late to the thread but I LOVE the color combo.
Up until a year ago I had an old 1965 L35/TH400 sitting around waiting for a car like this.

Lots of surprises likely to be found on this one. I would not even think about paying a dime over $7k without a personal inspection.

Oh and come on guys, what is is about HO? lol  :P
