Title: 12 Bolt Axle Stamping
Post by: 69OlympicGoldSS on November 24, 2006, 07:34:50 PM
Decoding guru's,

Could you help me fill in the data for the 12 bolt axle tube numbers on my '69 Camaro?

Thanks for your help.

Engine Block Stamping: T0520HA

TO = Tonawanda NY Assembly plant
0520 = May 20th
HA = 350 ci / 300 hp L48

12 Bolt Axle Tube: S E 0521G1

SE = ??????
0521 = May 21st
G1= ??????

Although you really can't see the first letter (before the "S"), more than likely it's "BS" which was the standard 3.31 rear axle for your SS 350. The "E" is for an Eaton Posi, optional for your car. The "G1" is the first shift of the Detroit Gear and Axle Plant.

Look closer at the area in front of the "S" and you might be able to see a faint "B".

Thanks Ed.  Any idea what the upside down "D"  and the half sideways "A" are to the left of the regular stamped data?

I believe those are inspection stampings, but JohnZ should be able to confirm (or deny) this.
