Title: 7029202 Q jet secondary well fix
Post by: z28z11 on August 16, 2015, 04:54:03 PM
For all of us with Rochester Q jets, here's a simple procedure you can accomplish over an hour or so with common hand tools that will effectively fix your leaking or potentially leak-prone secondary well plugs.

Disassemble the carb, remove the throttle plate from the body, and follow the steps as shown in the pics. This really appealed to my automotive therapy needs for the weekend -

Steve

Finishing the operation - procedure is really this simple. Just take your time and the end result will justify your patience.

Tools required - flat file, drill, chamfering tool (or a large enough drill bit to chamfer the hole edges by hand), a sheet metal screw long enough to grip it with a pair of Vise Grips or a slide hammer, and a drop or two of oil to lubricate the "o" rings before installation. Plugs were sourced from Quadrajet Parts in NJ, a great parts and carb service source. All it takes -

Steve
