I joined the Camaro Research Group on October 17, 2005 in an effort to obtain information regarding my 1969 Z28 Camaro. I wanted to verify that the 1969 Z28 that I
had purchased, VIN #124379L505424, with approx. 55,000 miles and no documentation was an authentic Z28. The engine block was a CE block and had some after-market parts. The drive train was original as well as most of the remaining vehicle components including the interior (except the steering wheel). I began to read posts and engage in spirited discussions. I also began to verify the parts that the vehicle came with had the part numbers CRG which indicated the parts would be in a 1969 Z28. After verifying all that I could, I came to the conclusion that the Z28 that I had purchased was an original Z.
There was still some doubt, however, since I did not have any documentation and the car did not have all original parts. Then on July 20, 2015, Kurt Sonen sent me an email stating “Alan, Your lucky day. Your Z's docs have been found and were just listed on ebay”.
On Friday July 25, 2015 I picked up the documents from David N. who listed the documents on ebay. This day was the day that my orphaned 1969 Z28 Hugger Orange Camaro with 79,224 original miles was re-united with its birth documents (i.e. Factory Invoice, Body Build (Broadcast) Sheet, Chassis Build Sheet, haul away truck company Shipper Form and GMAC Dealer Trade Letter) and now was no longer orphaned, proving that its pedigree was a 1969 Z28 Camaro.
Thanks to Kurt, Warren and David N. (who recovered the documents); my1969 Z28 Camaro has been authenticated.

Great story. Did the document owner ever own your car?

No. The documents were recovered from a California Chevrolet Dealer whom David knew very well.

What was the name of the dealership the documents came from?

The car was originally shipped on 10/23/1968 to Bob Cartens Chevrolet (Dealer code 114 zone 6) in Riverdale Ca. Traded on 10/24/1968 to Giant Chevrolet in Visalia Ca, using Pacific Motor Trucking company (PMT). Giant Chevrolet is where the documents were recovered by Dave N.

Thanks! Interesting it was dealer traded only a day after arrival. Did you get the original ship-to dealer details via the NCRS, or was that covered by the Giant documentation?

NCRS indicated that the original dealer code was 114 in zone 6. No other information from NCRS. Bob Carstens Chevrolet sent a letter to General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) that they were delivering (Trading) the car to Giant Chevrolet.

Not often you find broadcast sheets, in any form. No less with the GMAC invoice!

What a great story! Props to all of the CRG'ers and staff to make these things possible, because without them there would have been no hope for such a neat ending for this car.

I'm going on 4 month's now in the CRG Forum and if you don't mind can you lend me any advise or some inside tips of what you did, so I can get my information out there on my 1969 Z28 Camaro like you did? It's missing the motor and trans which for some Leap of Faith I would like to find it if it still exists, needle in a haystack comment there, to include any doc's like you ran across for some unseen or lucky chance?
After I purchased the 1969 Z28 Rally Green with White Strip's original paint Van Nuys Car, I found the Broadcast Sheet on the top of the gas tank which officially proved that is was True 1969 Z28 and it's also prior to me finding the Broadcast Sheet it was certified by Jerry MacNeish through the buyer I got the Z28 from, who is one of my best friends.
My car is a Van Nuy's Z28 like yours, and I spent the $50 dollars with the NCRS Society about 2 month's ago to find out it's delivery and purchase location. NCRS Society had it on record and came back with Code 300, Zone 20 in the LA, California area at Bill McGuire Chevrolet in Buena Park, California. The car has been in the Panhandle of Texas since the 70's per the auction buyer out of Amarillo, Texas and the title and tags on the car which it's been in storage since April 1979. This is all the prior history I've been able to obtain, not much to go on.
Let me know if you can give me some pointers or contact's here in the CRG and I would like to get my VIN, etc. to see if someone might be seating on some of this information by for some unseen chance or the documentation like you Ran across... My VIN is 124379L524374.
Great story asm69 and it's motivated me to reach out do my 1st post reply on the CRG Forum and maybe I can get some help or at least by chance get some idea's in good faith my Z28 motor or trans, or documentation or history are out there!!!

First, It was my lucky day as kurt said. I never would of thought that these type of documents would all of sudden show up. And even more lucky they were just a 30 minute drive from my home. But, what I did do was join the Camaro Research Group. I learned all that I could regarding the 69Z. Where to look for part numbers and stampings, what parts a 69Z should have. Then I began posting topics which I needed answers to. As well as commenting on other posts. Some of the posts that I started were not well received by the community. I also as needed included my vin# in the posts so that the Vin would start getting out in the community.
I just got involved with a passion that I have for the 69Z.
In the end it was my lucky day.

Congrats ! Finding the doc's alone..what odds? and on top of that they where only a stones throw away...Double the luck. Run out and play your lucky numbers...Things happen in 3's
