I'm puzzled about something...in short, there are different part numbers for Clutch vs Brake Pedal Bumpers, so I'm sure they're different.
However, aftermarket pieces treat them interchangeably and google searches find parts books noting "cut to fit" for other cars.
Surely I've made a mountain out of a molehill here, but unfortunately Dad's no longer around to ask (he'd have called someone for sure!)
So the questions I've got are:
- for other 69 Z28 owners (and I suspect all 1st Gen) does your brake bumper come remotely close to interference with the striker?
- is my research below correct? (specifically for a 69 Z28)
- does anyone have official specs (or measurements from original parts)?
- are insertion holes the expected bumper width? (eg the "insertion plug" is as wide as the bumper)
For dimensions below, orientation as the attachment below.
brake bumper p/n 3781770 replaced by 340688 (other p/n's used inbetween?)
size: 1.25" long, 51/64" wide, 11/16" thick
clutch bumper p/n 1361714
size: 1" long, 5/8" wide, 15/32" thick
I'm relatively sure exact dimensions are not required!
I ran into this because I'm chasing a brake drag issue exactly like this one (toe-lifting the pedal removes drag):

Based on inspection of my replacement bumper & striker I'm seeing interference and suspecting it is preventing the freeplay required.
I unfortunately do not have originals to measure...the brake bumper was missing when I inherited the car from Dad, and the Clutch bumper was trimmed to fit by the mechanic I was working with when he adjusted the clutch (we had a lot to do in a short timeframe).

ps. for those who may be concerned about my next steps...I'm planning to trim interference away, then check brake position vs spec, check free-spin on front/rear tires and then test drive without my toe-lifts after every stop
