I have to send out the bowl to have the fuel inlet heli-coiled because they are a bit worn, but before I do, I don't want to get my hopes up. From these pictures, Is anything not repairable/reusable within the float bowl itself?

I see nothing that would make a repair worthless....things look fine.
This sure looks like an earlier body judging from the use of the plunger.
If this were mine I would not hesitate to send it out for a thread repair.

Make sure you pay attention to the well plugs on the bottom of the bowl. Old well plug gasket material is still stuck on these; either clean/inspect and make sure you use a kit with the replacement gasket, or remove the soft plugs, drill, tap and plug the bottom of the wells to prevent gas leaking back out out of the carb into the engine. To me, that's always been the worst design feature of the Quadrajets - otherwise, they are great carbs, easy to work on and last forever.

Gasket, yes, but the epoxy will possibly have to be ground off if you want to remove it.
It depends on how the surface was prepped before the epoxy was applied (example: if it was roughed up to increase the mechanical bond of the epoxy to the metal).

One thing that is common on Qjets and not repairable is when the mechanic over tightens the two front mounting bolts and crushes the carb body and top. I have seen several damaged like this over the years. You can tell if you have a problem by putting a straight edge over the top gasket surface on the body.

Anyway to fix the well plugs without drilling or removing the carb and rebuilding it?

Not that I am aware of. You can regasket using the new well gasket in most kits - they could deteriorate over time, which is why some people drill/tap/plug them. Quick way to seal 'em is epoxy, but even that's not 100%. Plugging them permanently is the only way to be 100% sure. In any event, you have to disassemble the carb to access the well, which you do anyway when you rebuild one.

I had the original carb sent to be restored on a 72 455 H/O trans am and somewhere it its past the frt mounting bolts were tightened too much and warped the top and main body beyond repair :( it was visable when you looked but I didnt till after was returned they replaced the main body and it did run alot better afterwards dropped .5 in the 1/8. I always wondered how you could do that? 72 was the last year for factory aluminum manifolds I would of thought threads would of pulled before that happened

Read this this string of comments and the scenario described by Z28Z11 (April 15) is exactly what I have going on. I need a good carb guy to send it to. Any reliable suggestions?

Check out Quadrajetparts online - they offer all pertinent parts, plus a pretty unique way to seal the well plugs I had not seen before. Pretty inexpensive and simple to do - positive, permanent sealing for the secondary well plugs. Read the tech article in the website for the procedure.
I've found my 7029202 carb has been Helicoiled on the inlet in the past - evidently a poor job, so it leaks no matter how tight I've gotten the connection, or with a liberal dose of Permatex #2. These guys offer the services to Helicoil the inlet and machine the gasket surface, and pressure check the repair to make sure it seals. After struggling with this for a couple of weekends, I think it's gonna make the trip to NJ for a hopeful repair.
