Title: Reverse Lockout Bellcrank to Frame Bolts
Post by: Edgemontvillage on April 16, 2015, 04:46:29 PM
I recently purchased a 1969 RS/Z project car that at some point had headers installed. The reverse lockout rod was disconnected and the bellcrank unbolted from the frame likely to deal with a common pipe interference issue. All the original exhaust hangers remain and almost unbelievably the reverse lockout bellcrank was left dangling...for how long I don't know.  I want to reconnect the bellcrank to the frame and need to know which bolts are correct. Please post a photo if you have original bolts.

Lloyd...The 1969 AIM, Section M20, Sheet A7 shows the setup for a Muncie equipped car and states that the number is 9419402.  Here is a link to the AMK site showing the bolt (Page 117, 5th bolt down).

Lloyd,
I have seen two different bolts that are the same styles, but the one has a "D" in the center and is the most common of the two from what I have seen. Dave

Is this what the original bolts look like? (I suspect the finish would be manganese phosphate rather than silver zinc or silver cad)

Here ya' go Lloyd, 3 real deal originals. They are black phosphate, tapered like a self tapping type, no letter or marking on mine (maybe a faint L). Bentley.

Yep, 5/16-18X3/4 1/2AF .66 O.D. AMK B-12589 (6) and for sure a phosphate screw. The supplier was a GM supplier and the screw is technically correct size and finish wise IMO Lloyd.

What Bentley posted are correct and is one of the two bolts that I referenced. However, those were mostly used on automatics, hence why he has three bolts. Also the AMK bolts are wrong for the center portion are hexagon and not a circle like the originals.
