Title: 1967 Camaro - "time capsule"
Post by: BULLITT65 on April 03, 2015, 03:50:45 PM
Well guys I ran across this on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321713039208?forcerRptr=true&item=321713039208&viewitem=

I wasn't around when this was the creme del la creme, of its time. I have seen Corvette summer many times, and this car seems to fit that theme. Will cars like this hold there value in some kind of niche market? Do any of you who grew up with these types of cars, have any pics or stories of building such cars?

Wheel flares , bell bottoms, " tough skin " jeans, disco... as I kid in the 70's ,I have no good recollections! Case in point the above Camaro. Wasn't a real fan of the Pro-street craze of the 80's either...lot of all show no go. Today is a good time in the hobby from restorations to Detroit Speed ,great cars being put out.

Check this geek out in the 68 ;D

But Jano at that point you were only modifying your looks... :o
at least you and your dad had the piece of mind to leave well enough alone with the cars.... 8)

Darrell it does look similar to the Falcon XB in Mad Max( or the Road Warrior), except for the fact that the XB came out pretty much stock like that, it had to have taken a lot of time and money to get that 67 to loo that way, I would think.

WOW - Tilt front end and a blower!  Hard core.

No market for that.

Our Aussie XB Coupe was a pretty cool car (for a blue oval product) but took a lot of modifications, some subtle and some not, to make the Mad Max car. The nose of the movie car reminds me of a Monza for some reason......
Here's a stock-ish GT351, I believe that quite a few have been brought over there by US fans:

I thought there was an option, (Like RS for camaro) to get the front facia on the Falcon XB

After the movie became popular, a number of people offered a body styling kit to transform a standard coupe into a 'lookalike' but as far as I know (being a GM guy!) it wasn't available from the factory.

After reading a bit, it looks like it was an add on specifically for the movie, but than available after the movie came out. I am pretty sure most of the parts are available now, just like they are for making a knight rider car out of a trans am.
