Hello,
Does anyone know of a reliable source that I can purchase 5 - XT 14 x 7 wheels for a ZL-1? Please advise
-
several sources on yenko.net

Didn't ZL-1's come with 15's?

I believe that was only with the additional "sports car package" 9737, standard wheel was the XT.

Does this mean you have a ZL1 ?

Good luck with that. You will need 5 wheels dated to the car; very rare to find a complete set. A friend has a Gibb ZL1 with correct XTs but incorrectly dated for an 02D build. A complete dated set became available a few months ago and sold immediately for $3995. Didn't want them that bad.
There is one XT wheel 5-8-69 for sale on the Yenko site for $325. Ya snooze ya lose.

These weren't that rare back in the day. But they are now....

I do own one now. Barn find. It has rally wheels on it. No sign of original XT 14x7 wheels
-
For now buy any solid used XT you can find; they all look the same. You may be able to swap your way into a dated set over time. What is the body tag date?
Be aware Pontiac used a 14 x 7 XT wheel in '69 but the stamping is smaller I believe.

How about some pics of your ZL-1 find?

Did any ZL-1's come with Rally wheels? If so, they would be be YJ 14x7 or 15" dated to the car, right. So jrm3, have you checked the dates and codes on the rallly's?

None of the 50 ZL-1s Gibb Chev ordered had rally wheels. Of the remaining 19 2 are known to have been built with COPO 9737 and had 15 x 7 rally wheels. 6 are known to have been built with 14 x 7 rally wheels. 9 others had XT wheels, 2 have unknown build configuration.

Hmm, then we just need to know which ZL-1 we are talking about and get the existing rally codes to double check! :) Thanks William
