Title: 1969 Z28 VIN Stamp or Re-stamp?
Post by: FortLangleyBC on February 14, 2015, 12:05:32 AM
Good evening -

I am looking at purchasing 1969 Z28 (in addition to the 69 SS396 per my other post today) - the seller claims to have the original DZ block. The trim tag is Norwood 10B & the car is Canadian with GM docs matching the VIN.

The engine block cast date is I 24 8 which I believe is September 24 1968 (photo attached). The engine stamp has the correct partial VIN number and the assembly date seems reasonable - October 2. (photo attached)

Does anyone have an opinion on whether the stamping is original or not?

Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated!

I have a photo of a genuine October 2, 1968 block stamp. This one is a very obvious re-stamp.

Thanks William - I had my doubts about the block.  The car's trim tag looks suspect as well.

It seems very hard to find an original Camaro....

For future reference:
VIN 124379N520916   If I'm reading it correctly!
