Title: Did all 69 Z28's with black vinyl tops have black stripes?
Post by: LemansBlueZ28 on January 30, 2015, 02:48:50 AM
The cowl tag on my car reads 71B. I understand that is Lemans Blue with a black vinyl top. When I spoke to the second owner that had purchased it in 1984 he said it had the vinyl top on it then with white stripes. He had the car repainted at one point and removed the vinyl top and kept white stripes. I always thought black vinyl top cars had black stripes from the factory. Is that correct?

While the dealer literature reports that a black stripe is the default color with LeMans Blue, only white stripes have been observed in practice, except for special orders.

Yes, Lemans Blue with black top should have black stripes.
Got a pic of the trim tag?
