A Tonawanda built SHP DZ block???? Is that possible??
That is clearly a Flint block due to the presence of the 1/4" pipe plug in the oil gallery.

I don't know much about stampings but the one thing I immediately found odd was the condition of the motor with pealing paint, grease dust on heads and block and the missing intake compared to the relative good condition of the booster, clean firewall and wire harness tape.
Just my observation,

I dont think that what looks to be a pipe plug really is. Regardless there are no DZ blocks with a Tonawanda stamping. For my money I would guess its a Tonawanda block that has been restamped.

This picture was taken last week. In the process of detailing under chassis and drivetrain, checking part numbers and date codes. Besides the partial Vin what other stamps or marks would there be on the block?

I know of another 69 Z which has a DZ with the flint machining characteristics and also has a T0225DZ stamping... The original POP has T0225DZ on it too, we had believed someone re-stamped the block to match the POP.

Changing my vote..Although its not very clear if you blow up the latest pic it appears the block is actually a Flint block with the oil galley plug.

Probably any of us could install the oil galley plug in a Tonawanda block... That's easy for me to believe. What I don't believe is that that a Flint engine assembly employee *accidentally* changed out his 'V' stamp and *accidentally* inserted a 'T' stamp in his gangholder... :)
I'm also under the impression that the Tonawanda plant would not have had the parts to assemble a Special High Performance small block engine such as the 302, so a real DZ motor assembled in Tonawanda isn't easy to believe either.

Its got the same assembly stamp on it, because its the same car, how many 76B, 714 yellow houndstooth z28s could they make with a Tonawanda engine.. Its not legit. Vin is 9N608302

In 1976-77 time frame, not long after I traded for my 72/720 Z28, I followed up a local newspaper ad, and found no one at home, but a yellow/yellow/black '69 Z28 like this was sitting in front of a mobile home out in the country. No one was home, but I did check out the car. It was real, almost the same condition/originality as my orange car... I WANTED it.. but couldn't talk my wife into it... :( .. $1900..... :)

Not possible. Clearly a restamp. No DZ engines were built at Tonawanda.

Cool, just heard of a couple others can't figure out why even if it's a restamp, why there's a T? What would be more important? Vin or engine stamp?

We can not reveal ever little detail about everything. Restampers look on this site too, unfortunately. We don't want to educate them any more so they make better fakes. Understand?

Why there's a T? Because someone screwed up when they restamped it.
