I have a set of door mirrors for a 1969 Camaro I would like to have restored because they are "Originals". Does anyone have a company name that does this type of restoration?? Anybody with some sort of info on this matter please feel free to chime in. Thanks guys.....Don

They can be chromed. There was a post on here that talked about soaking the glass to get it loose. Mine had a silicone like product and it was difficult to get loose

Call RichardFortier. He is the past owner of Paragon Reproductions the Corvette Supplier. He does this type of work, and is restoring the rearview mirror out of one of my 67 Vettes.

What is a "set"? 1969 Camaros only had one door mirror, on the driver's side.

How do the original Camaro judging guidelines 'judge' an added external mirror on the passenger side? This is really a 'safety issue', as backing in a crowded situation can be very difficult when there is no RHS mirror..
I have this 'issue' with several of my older cars. With standard mirrors the LHS mirror can be mounted to the RHS and it looks fine (and works), but the problem with my '69 Camaro is even worse, as it has the remote mirror on the driver side, and to my knowledge there is no available RHS mirror for remote or even that has a consistent appearance...?

Gary, my friend has the remote mirror on his car as well and he put the standard mirror on the right side and it looks fine.

My car came with one on passenger door. This is incorrect?? Don

No, only had drivers side mirror but many were added or dealer installed over the years. Soak in Mineral Spirits for a day and my mirror came out and as Bill stated there are 4 globs of what looks like some type of silicone. Then send your mirrors out to be re-chromed and when returned use an adhesive to place the mirrors back in place. Check the date codes on your glass.

Here is link to how to get the glass out.

I found a different link when I had a mirror that was slightly loose and wouldn't stay adjusted. They suggested pooring thinner in a pie pan or such and letting it soak. Actually didn't take 24 hrs., just overnight.

I have the old mirror glass removed now. I'm just wondering now, will the chrome plating people, re-plate mirrors fully assembled, minus the glass of coarse. I'll have to call around and find out I guess. Anyone have any further info, please "chime-in"and Merry Christmas

Its taken apart as it has a spline fit together so its chromed in two pieces. Any chrome shop should be able to do.

"68"CamaroZ....This what my mirror looks like. Thanks for the pics and info. You've saved me some time re-searching this matter. Merry X-mas

It seems that the "Mirror Lady" in PA (Joyce Burrell) has retired. No longer in business.
Anyone have a current resource for mirror restoration (rear view & side view).
Thanks,
John
