Title: A Friend in Need...
Post by: ko-lek-tor on December 19, 2014, 12:18:45 AM
...is a friend indeed! Although there are several interpretations, I always translate as: real friends help when you are in a time of need. And I was in real need and SgtHawkUSMC gets a huge thanks from me as well as CRG and what it provides to the hobbyist.
My Camaro has been at a body shop/restoration shop for 8 months. I got some disheartening news recently. The guy is closing shop, so he says, and would not be finishing my car as agreed. He informed me I had to pick up my car and all loose parts(many) by the end of the month. I planned on renting a trailer , but weather, here in the Midwest, is unpredictable and an open trailer was not the best scenario. In my desperation, I reached out to SgtHawk and asked if he had time to help me get my car? This was on a Friday (last week). He quickly replied and hastily came up with a plan to meet me at the shop in Ft. Wayne, In. the next day, Saturday (I am East of Cincy, Ohio, Hawk is in Mi.). I am glad to say that it all went off without a hitch and Hawk has my car at his house now. I am thankful that there were no problems getting the car and I am not as stressed and concerned about the car's well being now. I did not have a bad experience with the body guy and stayed amicable and cordial although I am deeply disappointed that I still have an unfinished car with so much time passing. I just wanted to convey the gratefulness of members, here, to help me and even though I hated to ask of this quick favor, Hawk rose to the challenge and for this I give my thanks. Hope to find someone local to finish car as another saying comes to mind: "Once bitten, twice shy". I may take it to another member, here, to finish, but this long distance experience has not been real positive.

Sorry you had to go through that Bentley but glad you got it out of there without problem. Hats off and a big salute to Hawk!! What else would you expect from a true car guy and Marine :)

I am glad we have have each other to lean on here, and Hawk was able to step up and another mission accomplished.

I have been in your shoes, your lucky he gave a good heads up. I got one of cars stuck in a guys shop one time, what a pain in the neck.

Glad I could/can help! Like I said though, you're going to have to fight my sons to get it out of my garage lol. My 3 yo is geeked that we have two orange 69s. "Daddy, now we have two Camaros, but that ones whole." Thanks for the reminder bud! At least he knows they're Camaros.
It's safe and secure, so sleep easy Bentley.

Semper Fidelis Marines!

Sorry...but after reading the title I had a flash back and just could not resist quoting the opening line in The Hollywood Night's movie:
Remember:
A friend with weed
is a friend indeed.

OK...with that out of my system, I wanted to say I'm glad things worked out for you in retrieving your car with the assistance of folks here.
In a way, CRG is like a car club and we are all its members.  ;)

That's why I'm such a fan of this site, like-minded people who often go the extra mile to help a fellow member.
Glad you got the car with no issues or missing parts Bentley; is that the X22 car?

...no issues or missing parts Bentley; is that the X22 car?  Issues, missing parts? , not sure about this as I have not had a chance to look over my parts or the work completed, so there may be an issue or something missing, won't know this for awhile.
X22 car? Yes! Thanks Tim, you are one of the great ones here, if I may ad.
