Title: 68 Camaro 12 bolt pinion seal installation
Post by: SS396 on December 01, 2014, 01:38:23 PM
Was reading my service manual regarding installation of the the pinion seal. The seal I'm using is an original GM 3924031. It mentions the use of a guage to go between the seal lip and housing. Does anyone know the thickness of the guage as I don't have access to one ?

Look at reply #7 at the bottom:

Make sure you scribe the pinion nut and count the number of exposed threads before removing.
Also, the pinion yoke *may* have a groove worn into it so a new seal may not stop the leak.
I had the with my one car and had to change the yoke too.
