Title: Your Thoughts on Vintage Air System
Post by: Sixty8Camaro on November 20, 2014, 09:34:07 PM
May I ask what your thoughts are in installing a Vintage Air system on a car with a straight six? Will it cause the engine to strain every time it kicks in? Could it require a larger radiator so that it dose not over heat?

My car is in such original condition part of me thinks I should not modify it but the other part of me knows what it will be like in the middle of the summer her in SW Florida without AC.

It's a convertible!  Drop the top when you're hot!  ;)

I suspected I might get that advice, but I also drive a Harley and sometimes here in the Flordia summer it's just frigging too hot to even drive it. But this is my first convertible so I guess time will tell.

Check with Vintage Air on application, they have been around awhile with a good rep. Dragging down ? Every 4 banger on the road today has A/C, my opinion is the inline 6 should have enough torque to turn the compressor while cruising.

Not thinking twice what the gas to drive a 6 cylinder for me just adds to the fun.

At this moment I also have a 69 Firebird (4-Sale) with a 350 that sucks gas, which is why I was on the hunt for a 68 Six.

I would rather enjoy driving a Six every-day rather than a car that I can only afford to drive on the weekends because of the fuel consumption.

I agree.
