Title: GM Lug Nuts
Post by: camaroman1969 on October 18, 2014, 11:33:56 PM
Calling Camaro guru's again.  I've seen lug nuts on ebay for sale with a stamping of letters of: "DMC".  Is this correct for a 1969 Camaro??  I've seen some with 3 little triangles stamped on them.  Did GM have numerous nut vendors for these bolts???   Any advise will aid me in purchasing correct lug nuts for my Camaro.  Thanks guys....Don

It was my understanding that there were a handful of lug nuts used. The DMC ones are acceptable, I have seen the triangle ones but I cannot remember the manufacturer of those or if they were a original supplier. I think the other ones I have seen have a waffle pattern on the face of them, which I am guessing is original from the machine in the factory that put them on.

GM used half a MILLION lug nuts every single day, from MANY vendors; it would be difficult to say that any vendor was exclusive to any given plant at any given time. The multiple-spindle nutrunners that installed the lug nuts didn't mark the nuts in any way - any marking or surface texture on the nut came from the manufacturer.

So are the triangle ones also considered original?
