Title: x33
Post by: Z10 Paceman on October 01, 2014, 01:23:22 AM
Were all 1969  x33 cars Z28's. My friend has a x33 he said it is a z28 that was ordered with a 307 4speed with 12 rear end. I have never heard of this I thought all z28's were 302

Rest assured, all X33 cars are Z28s and had only one drivetrain-302 4spd-12bolt rear. Generally the 12 bolts were 3.73 or 4.10. trans could be close or wide ratio. Look in the site under 1969 and it spells it all out. http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

If his 302 was .30 over, it would be a 307!

it would be .030 and at .060 over it would come up to 310.55 or 311 cu. .030 would only be 306 cu. .040=307 Sorry to get so precise there Buddy.

Maybe..  but it wasn't ordered from the factory that way.. :)
A 302 bored 0.030 is close to 307 ci, but it is NOT anything close to the same as a Chevy 307~  :)

PS. Grizzly bears and rabbits are both brown haired animals, but one doesn't confuse the two ..:)

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought the standard bore 302 was actually 301.74 which when bored .030 still made it legal for SCCA ruling of 5.0L. Maybe 5.0L is a little looser term than actual cubic inches...Joe

A V8 with 4.030 bore and 3 " stroke comes out to slightly above 306 ci.   If I recall correctly, the 'best of the TA teams " (ie. Pennske) used special pistons that were around 0.020" over bored to get under the 305 max ci (at least that was what was reported).. :)      I'm sure they did whatever they could get by with.. :)
