Title: Flasher Units for 1969
Post by: ZLP955 on September 24, 2014, 08:30:31 AM
Are the correct turn signal and 4-way flasher units for a 1969 non-RS the Tung-Sol 552 and Signal-Stat 175?
(For those that also frequent Team Camaro, I did post the same Q there, but this may be more appropriate here).

Tim,

Sorry it took a while to respond - had to wait for the weekend.

Here's pics of mine - on the car when I bought it in '73, stored inside (sealed) since 1980, fuse panel as well. If someone has a different flasher edition, please post it.

Regards,
Steve

Steve,
Thanks very much, I really appreciate your reply and photos.
Your info matches with some information I received from a Corvette guy, that I should have a 552 emergency (4-way) flasher, and a 224 turn signal flasher. Seems the 224 is load-sensitive, so it will flash at a different rate (and therefore alert the driver) if a bulb fails, whereas the 552 is a constant-rate flasher regardless of the number of lamps (up to a maximum limit).
I've also been told that the Signal-Stat 175 has also been observed in the fuse block as the 4-way flasher, but am still unsure what the Signal-Stat equivalent of the Tung-Sol 224 is.
