Want exact ? Four point scale the car with normal load (passengers ,full fuel tank, etc ) compare the results to Eaton spring recommendations. Rule of thumb an aluminum headed big block=cast iron headed small block ,all things being equal with accessories for street. Don't have access to a 4 wheel scale? Give them a call and see what they say.

Spring rate is very important (front, rear) based on what you are doing with the car. Finding  load and demand is a must in determining rate for your particular application.

QA-1 tech is another great source in determining the proper spring for your build.

As jano stated earlier, a big block with aluminum heads weighs very close to the same as an iron head small block of the same era, but this is not enough to choose the proper coil springs.   In the 'service manual' (I think?) is a table that shows that the actual spring depends on many variables, that includes not only the engine used, but also other options which add (or reduce) weight of the car on the front end.   Check that table...  Use the Z28 column, and add/subtract as the table says for the options your car has..  that should get you close... to the correct spring as would have been used by the factory.

The spring rate charts are also provided via CRG:

yea well, Qa-1 have carried me 138 under 10.3 in a 89" wb car ,but different website ;) Company out of PA. winds a good spring too ,but the ones I've listed seems to be status quo for this site. Not even getting into dynamics between different rates rears vs. front and disturbances in deceleration..eg.. rear wheel hop. Basically stock BB aluminum headed Camaro should be no big deal.
