Has anyone found an HEI dist that fits a 68 with 327 without modifing the firewall?
-
Who would want one? lol HEI stands for Herniated Epileptic Ignition. Seriously, I think a Pertronix kit would be a lot better. My 2 cents.

"Dave's Small-Body HEI" can convert your existing "small" distributor to HEI if that's what you really want. :)

John,
I just got done installing a new GM crate motor in my '69. The HEI is too big for the firewall without modification. I used an MSD Ready-To-Run Street Pro-Billet from Jeg's (121-8360). This is the 2nd one I have purchased (two different cars :)) and have had no problems whatsoever with lots of clearance. Hope this helps. 8)

I ended up going with the Pertronix Set-up - Dist & Coil - working great and priced well
-
I agree the pertronix set up is too easy and works great

On the car that I own and the one before that , I put an HEI distributor that came from a `75 camaro, on both cars I have to bang the fire wall to make room for the distributor.

I installed a complete Accell self contained HEI unit (had a GM HEI in it ) in my 67 Camaro with a 355/4sp with no firewall issues.
In response to who'd want one. It's a neat, complete self contained unit, put it in, add 12volts and a wire for the tach and your done. They work great for mild to moderate engine and are reliable.
