Title: 68' z28 Camaro emblem on trunk lid
Post by: toad on August 04, 2014, 03:49:16 PM
Quick question for all you Camaro junkies, is there any documented cases of the rear truck lid "Camaro" emblem on the 1968 z28 not to be installed?
Thnx

If it has a dealer installed rear spoiler and they did not reinstall the emblem above the spoiler, that would be a possibility otherwise none that I am aware of, trunk lid could have been replaced and not reinstalled, Darrell

Taod,
Never had holes punched/repaired? The original trunk lid will have a number punched into it that should line up with the other original punched sheetmetal numbers on that car. it should be close but before your build date. There is a thread on this site with many pictures of factory deck lid variations. Sorry no answer, but a good starting point for your research.

Can you post a picture of the inside of the lid? Is your car a NOR or LOS car and when was it built? Original paint?

It doesn't look like original paint. The stripes are too squared off....Joe

Well the truth is I'm looking at buying the car. Not sure why the only section of the car reprinted would be the trunk. I have a bunch more pics I'd like to share with everyone before I decide what to do. Stay tuned....

Hi everyone. I've been recently looking at an unrestored 1968 z28 that I think is the real deal. Have been doing my homework and although this car has a very odd colour combination EE exterior and Medium blue interior with no gauge package but is a console car, the drivetrain looks accurate. The current owner has assured me he has the paperwork from the famous Nickey Chevrolet dealership to back up the car. I'll let everyone look and see if you can find any odd indifferences. Thnx Toad

Oh buy the way the interior goes with the picture of the post about the trunk emblem previously. I would like to add more pictures but I'm struggling just to post one due to size limitations of this site

Toad, very cool car especially if everything checks out to be the real deal for you. Look forward to more pictures as you can.

Good looking car but if the trim tag says EE for the paint code it was originally painted Fathom Blue.

Ermine White with a blue interior is a really nice combo! I'd definitely make the purchase if everything checked out and I had the cash. Actually, I'd take any color combination first gen Z/28 but the color combos you don't see often really make me drool!  ;D

Good color combo.  Post pics of the drivetrain stamps when you have time.

Based on what I can see, it seems fine.  But I do not have that exact date for a comparison with another.

I am interested in what others think.

Without seeing the entire VIN, trim tag & hidden vins I believe it to be legit.

Not that my opinion matters..

Do you have a pic of the trim tag & VIN reg or hidden?

Hey everyone thanks for the feedback, I hope I didn't sound "cocky" in my post with the engine suffix stamp but I am really excited to see an original 68' z with it's entire drivetrain intact. I will get some detailed pictures of all the stamps soon.
Thnx
