Title: 1111467 distributor
Post by: pjbizjak on July 05, 2014, 09:34:16 PM
What would is the best date code for a 1111467 distributor for a 302 z/28 assembled 3/29/68?

To me, a "comfortable" date range is possibly mid-February to mid-March, not much closer than 10 days prior to build. I know there are some closer examples, and probably some farther out, but of all the ones I have seen and read about this range appears to be pretty inclusive. Probably varies a little by year, and bears some similarities to carb and alternator dates.

Just my 2 cents -

Regards

For an example, my 06-19-68 engine has a distributor date stamp of 8F4.....so this looks like a two week spread.

I'm not too sure there are many choices due to how many build distributor dates did they have prior to your engine build.  There was a 7J3 & 7J30 that JerrysM has  noted he's never seen in a car (potential service replacements per Jerry) and after that the first distributor 1111467 build I have noted is 8B8 with nothing until after your engine was built. To me the key is finding out what distributor batches (build dates) were manufactured prior to your 3/29 engine build which might be extremely low.
