Unless I've forgotten already.. :).. I don't recall seeing a lot of photos from the Carlisle Solid Lifter Display... :)
Needless to say, TMR (Eddie's) orange/black Z28 got my eye almost as soon as I entered the building.. that's Eddie with his back turned, wearing his CRG shirt talking to Frank Arone and Eddie's wife facing the camera..

Sitting next to Eddie Sells car was a beautiful frost green '69 Z28 (owned by Frank Arone I believe?)..
The second photo is of the engine compartment of the Rallye Green Yenko sitting in front of the door of the building...

There was also a '69 Corvette in the building.. sporting a 435 hp, triple carb'ed 427 engine... :)

Thanks for the pictures Gary! Man that HO car caught my eye. Absolutely beautiful. I do have a question though and I'm not picking just trying to learn. I notice that on Eddie's car and the green Yenko that they decided to go with a more taped paint line on the top of the cowl instead of the overspray look that you see so often. Again not picking just trying to learn for when the day comes and I start the restoration and I TRY to make my car as nice as Eddie's. I was looking back on the "1969 Z28 Cowl" thread that was posted just a few weeks ago and especially at the pictures that Kurt posted. You can see the body color paint overspray coming down over the black cowl and if I am seeing it right it even oversprays the TT some. I have always heard that is the way they were painted from the factory but after seeing these amazing pictures I was just wondering if some were taped off?? Maybe it has been discussed here before so I will also do some research.
Again, great job Eddie! Same color combo as my X77 car minus the RS and Crossram :)

Well.. only two reasons I can think of...
1) Restoring one car is a different situation than when the factory was building 90 cars per hr. Whereas it would have been time consuming at Norwood/VN to 'tape off for nice sharp lines'.. in restoration, it's probably *faster* to do the tape line than to try to 'replicate' what the factory did.
2) 'overspray is not 'pretty'... and lots of restorers and/or owners would prefer to have their tape lines nice and sharp even though it's not exactly how it was done in the factory.
It depends on your goal and what you want.

Regarding the overspray, IMO it's really up to who the person is restoring/having the car restored. If he/she a purest at heart, then there might be some overspray, or if they want show quality and crisp lines they might square off the lines.
Frank's car is a great example of how a car can look with overspray and still be outstanding in every detail. If the cars in the SLS were being judged, it would be hard not to chose Frank's car as the "best paint job". Frank's frost green color was outstanding. I never would have bought a car with that color from the factory, but with a paint job like Frank's one wouldn't mind owning one this color. The paint had a very deep look to it. If you saw it in person you would know what I mean. His paint job made my car look like it needed a good buffing. And trust me, I really like for my car to shine when its being shown.
If I lived near Frank, I know who would be painting my cars and buffing when needed, if he would do it. If you want to see an example of detail on Franks car look, at the two finger strips on the driver side cylinder head. It looked like someone removed grease/dust on the flat surface. I was told this would have come from the factory/dealer marked this way. Someone can correct me on this, since I'm only repeating what I was told about the car.
I have a lot of people ask me "would your car have come from the factory looking like this " and my reply, probably not.

Eddie, whether I try to go completely factory correct or not with the overspray etc, your car is amazing. But I will admit I am one of those biased HO guys :) Would love to see more detailed pictures of your car. I can only hope mine someday comes out half as nice as yours from what I see in Gary's pictures.
Would have loved to attended this Carlisle event!

I really like the exterior upholstery especially with the red trim and black seat.. Is that a rear spoiler. If so, is that factory correct or an add on... :D :D :D

Thanks Steve! ;D Looks like that was a heck of a show! A lot of nice cars. Going to have to make some plans next year and try to hit both shows. The Camaro Nationals and Carlisle.
