No, it's from a 1967 full size. 17S107557 is the partial VIN from the car it came out of. S stands for St Louis, MO and they built full size cars and Corvettes. The date of 7M17 indicates a transmission built on August 17th, 1966, which fits perfectly for a 67 full size car built in September, 1966.

By the way, can you post a picture of the YU stamping? And I'm going to move this to the Decoding/Numbers section.

No idea. Can you post a picture of that too? It may be some kind of rebuilders stamp.

Looks like the main case is from a full size car, like Ed said.

The tailhousing appears to be from a different car - probably a LOS build Camaro or full size Chevrolet.

I have no idea on the Y U stamping.

I missed the part on the 429 tail housing. That portion is not from a Camaro either.

Okay, per Warren, the extension is from a 1964 full size car assembled at the Los Angeles plant.

I was looking at the date wrong. It's not December 17th, 1966 but August 17th, 1966, so the main case came out of a full size car. I've fixed my original reply.

ok now we have down the vin number trail, that don't add up for a Camaro-    lets  look at YU that is stamped on main case is this Muncie from the phillipines?

stYutivo Corporation car lines, at one time or another, included:

Chevrolet: Bel-Air 4Dr, Impala 4Dr, Malibu 2Dr/4Dr, Camaro I must express my great appreciation to Yu Beng Tek of the Yutivo family, former Import and Distribution Manager of the Yutivo production facility, who tells the bulk of this story and pulled 30-year old facts from his memory with amazing ease. I am largely an editor for his words. I would also to express my appreciation to Mike Gomez, who helped me locate Mr. Yu. Also thanks to Santiago "Susing" Ricardo, friend of Mr. Yu and Yutivo Plant Manager during the Camaro years, for supplying the plant layouts. And, of course, to the other members of the Camaro Research Group, who helped proof-read and critique this article

No, the main case came from St Louis and the extension came from Los Angeles.
