Title: Original 67 Plastic Cowl Plug Markings 4874119
Post by: big iron on June 06, 2014, 02:27:36 PM
Made allot of search inquiries but can not find anything on the markings on the 1/2" plastic cowl plugs used in 67.
Found plugs on eBay but they look like service replacements and do not look correct.
Anyone have a picture?
Thanks.

Bob,

The 2 on top of the cowl near the cowl vent panel sides? I can get a pic later today and look at what markings are there.

Thanks Mike,
I just do not remember the plug having 1/2 marking on them.

Hi Bob,
The only markings are within the plug cavity and out of the 4 original ones I have the letter/number changed.
Here are the pictures. There are no other numbers on the plugs. I suspect the letter/number combo is a mold number.
Hope this helps,

Mike

Hi Ed,

What month is on the trim tag? I wonder if these are week numbers and it would be interesting to see if they come prior to the car build month.
I know parts like these can linger in a bin well past the car build date but it's just a curious long shot.

My car's a 68 (Los Angeles 05D). That would be the 21st week in 1968.

Ed and Mike,
Spot on with the pictures. I new they did not have 1/2 on them.
Mike I believe you are correct about the mold numbers or batch numbers.
Wonder if the P shows up on the 69's?
Will be going to Carlisle in a couple of weeks and will have a look.
Thanks.
Bob
