What original tires did early 1968 Z/28's have? Is it possible for October, November, December 1967 built cars to have red or white stripe Goodyear E70-15's? What is the earliest know Goodyear Wide Tread GT on a 1968 Z/28?

That's a good question. In the 67 Z road test article, the test car had white stripes.

No production Z's had white stripe tires.

In that case, did striped tires quit at the end of 1967 Z/28 production, and Goodyear WT's start at the beginning of production of 1968 Z/28's?

That's a good question. Someone here may know more about it, but I think the red stripe tires ended with the last 67 Z and the wide treads started with the first 68 Z.

There is a guy on the Yenko site with a 68 L78 4.56 or 4.88 car that has the original window sticker and 15" tire option, pretty sure it has DF's & wide tread GT's, someone else remembers a car (was def not a Z as it either had air or was a real auto car) with the 15" tire pressure sticker but had discounted it as being wrong earlier in their life.

It was an E70x15 according to the air pressure sticker, being available only on the Z28 I would call it special.
By the way the early 69 Z's list the on their Window Sticker a no cost 15" tire option.

I have an original Goodyear wide tread tire still on the large font DF wheel and the tire is date coded Jan68. JerryM 68 survivor is an earlier 67 built 68 Z so maybe he will chime in.

Thanks, sorry I wasn't more clear. I'm sure the spare would be a 15" if that's what you mean by "match", but would it be a regular or rally rim. In otherwords, did P28 include 5 rally rims & 5 RWL tires or would it have been a 15" regular rim whitewall spare?

Typically, all five tires matched *unless a space saver option were selected*. This was true even in cases where the spare tire was mounted on a 'regular' rim rather than a special rim if so ordered. I'm speaking of the automotive industry in general during those days, as opposed to Chevrolet specifically in 1968...

For all applications (except Space-Saver), all five wheels and tires were the same; only the trim pieces (center hubcaps, full wheel covers, and trim rings) were four to a car.

On the yenko site is a guy named Rusty that goes by small hurst. I think hes an advertiser now. About as good as deals as you find
