Title: metal to metal glue?

What works best to re-bond the thin walnut grained console shift plate insert to the shift plate ?

You can use a contact adhesive such as ados F2.
You can get a smallish tube about half the size of a tube of toothpaste from a hobby store or a hardware store.
Apply to both surfaces and smear about with a flat stick to get a thin coat then wait till they "tack off", then put them together.
You probably wont need to completely cover the plate, the old glue residue should give you a clue as to how much is needed.
WARNING....... you will get one chance so make sure it is lined up correctly.

Weatherstrip adhesive will also work.

3M emblem adhesive always works extremely well....

Using reproduction parts, I tried weatherstrip adhesive and it did not hold for long. I ended up using a little JB weld.
