Title: Big Block engine ID
Post by: hotrod68 on May 30, 2014, 02:30:10 AM
Hi guys. I have a friend with a big-block engine and I can't figure out what it is. The number on the block pad at the front is CEF 178770. I can't find CEF in any reference codes. I seem to recall that CEF designated a GM replacement engine or a crate engine. Has anyone else run into this, or does anyone know what this engine could be? Any help woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

CE means warranty replacement engine, but there should be a numeral after the CE, rather than an F...    check again?

The cast number and date might narrow it down.
