I finally got to drive my 69 Camaro yesterday after a three year total restoration. What a thrill, it drives just like a new car should, "in 1969". The old design suspension and bias ply tires make me appreciate newer radial tire technology. I mostly want to thank all you guys on CRG for providing information, tips, and overall restoration help over the last four years. The information provided on this site is tremendously helpfull to anyone attempting to restore a Camaro to factory like condition.
I have about 30 days before heading to nationals, but checklist is getting shorter.
If you see anything incorrect in the photos I appreciate your feedback. Thanks again guys. George

Yea, George, I see something....it's not at my place!!! Your work is outstanding. I will scrutinize the pics closer though. Good luck and I want more pics! Nice!

All I can say is WOW!!

Good looking restoration! Love the color combination. (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-happy096.gif)
Could we get a ground level, straight on side view?

Very nicely done. I do see one thing though. There is a speck of dust on the white top just above the a pillar..
Seriously though the car looks great. Get out there and enjoy driving that thing. Thats what they were made for!!!

Beautiful car! Congratulations on getting her back - and on the street!

Really nice. Gotta love BB/AC cars, especially this well done -
Ko-lek-tor beat me to the punch: The only incorrect detail is the current address -

Steve

Beautuful :D Looks like you were on point. Hours of work/fun ;)

Thanks for the complements guys, Ko-lec-tor asked me about the top shroud screw and I thought I would post my reply and get feed back from others. The shroud is original to the car and has no marking from a larger washer as you would typically see on a 69. In looking at the AIM there was a change in the screw on 10-10-68, if I read it correctly. That screw required a separate loose washer also. I assume my car didn't get the washer installed. I have seen this screw only on a few early cars. It could be they found out that the separate screw & washer was not working in assembly and went back to screw with captured washer. This is probably a point that would be questioned by a judge so I am curious what others have seen. George

lakeholme, I think this is what you were asking for, if not let me know, thanks. George

That's it. Just admiring the.lines created by the top and stripe. Love the wheels. Nice!

VERY NICE... My customer has decided to go with the SS wheels on his 12C X66 conv... they look great!
-
I concur the lines created by the 69 style vinyl roof looks great especially in the LB white combo.
BTW the 41k mile 12C X66 BB has the first style screw with the large captured washer.
The indented head has a S at 12 o'clock and 3 radial lines one at 3 one at 6 and one at 9 as if to split the top of the head into pie pieces.

I seem to be missing a screw on the end of the dash carrier. I replaced the carrier and threw out the original. I can't feel a hole from the back side.
Could one of you guys measure where the screw goes for me?, or maybe a good photo, Thanks. George.

The best designed car...ever. Love the Lemans Blue with white top. The brother of an old girlfriend in high school had an RS Z Lemans Blue with 'EVERYTHING' white and houndstooth. My first exposure to the 69 Z. What an image.

Glad I finally saw a good pic your 'Maro, George. Looks fantastic!! ;D Glad to hear you'll make it to the 'nats - we had to cancel at the last moment. :(
Also, if ya need a pic of that shroud screw head, let me know. Be glad to take one for ya - unfortunately, it'll be around the end of the week before I can get home.
Y'all take care,
Mike.

That thing is so sweet that sugar is jealous. Outstanding and a serious high-5!
-
Hey it may be " No Yenko", but I would say you really made out with very clean looking car.
So I have a question, did all SS cars come with a front and rear spoiler?

Nope. Spoilers were an option (RPO D80).
-
thanks John

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
Probably most cars you see with spoilers were added as was mine. The rear deck lid had holes drilled but has questionable deck lid. The front I added. George

She is drop dead gorgeous, Is it out of line, to ask the $ amount ? Just trying to get an idea of how much I need to have at the ready.

I thought I was buying a fairly rust free all original car and was willing to pay a little extra. Turned out I had to replace the quarters, wheel wells, 1' square of the floor, and trunk floor so that killed my initial budget. I can't do bodywork or painting in my shop so I sent that out. I also farmed out the seat covers, headliner, vinyl top install, chrome work, and trans overhaul. All the assembly and remainder I was able to do over 3 years, with allot of help from CRG guys. I probably have 65K invested total but saved 30K in my labor if I had to pay a shop to restore it. Just a guesstimate. George

I know I sure liked looking at it George and you did GREAT as Tony the tiger says. :) There were a lot of changes to those deck lids as even the stamping changed location. And better yet, it was a real pleasure meeting you and having some conversation.
Love that color combo and Big Block!

Very nice job George. My x66 car looks just like yours under the hood. It is a real pain to keep it looking that nice...Joe

Your car looks great.
For my information did you replace the rear springs and shock absorbers on your SS 69. If yes what were your part numbers and codes.
Thanks

Beautiful job, love the color combo.

I replaced the five leaf springs with units from HBC, they were very nice copies of my originals. I had one leaf cracked in each rear. The shocks I replaced with Monroe gas shocks because I heard the repro spiral shocks were not so good. I plan to drive this car after a couple shows and the ride is important to me. Very nice job George. My x66 car looks just like yours under the hood. It is a real pain to keep it looking that nice...Joe
As you know a BB with AC is more of a hassle to work on, but I wouldn't have it any other way. George
