Title: Motor casting numbers Is it a 350/302???
Post by: rd67RSSS on October 05, 2006, 10:35:11 PM
My father in law just looked at a block fro me down in atlanta and I'm a little confussed about if its a 350 or 350 with 3O2 heads/intake.

Here's the numbers:

Block:  3970010  (4 bolt main)    CNR on deck  The R might be a B???

On the back of the block is a H35   010 and 020     aslo a 9 T N

Heads:  3927186  with a K250

Aluminum Intake:  3932472

What do we have here, a 350, a 302, or a mut?

He can pick up the motor with a Munice M 20 4 speed (3885010) for a really good price...

Please let me know what you think this is so I can tell him whetehr to get it for me or not.

Thanks!!

Ok the heads are from a 1971 model vehicle, the block is from 1970 or later, but the CNR or CNB doesn't seem to correspond to a Camaro motor, according to the info at nastyz28.com. If you don't get more info here, you may try over at camaros.net, they work with all years of Camaros, while this is a first generation only site.  :)

How about CNK?  That would be a 1970 AT/350.

The "CNR" suffix was a 1970 350/300hp automatic from a full-size passenger car, and the 186 heads had many other applications (including trucks) besides Z/28's. It's probably a passenger car 350 with transplanted 186 heads and a Z/28 intake.
