Title: 68 inner quarter pinch weld / door gap
Post by: gkweber3 on April 15, 2014, 10:11:24 PM
Hey Guys, I am in the home stretch of my restoration and think I have a problem. I had new full quarters installed in my 68 RS Vert. While getting ready to install the interior I have found the top of the inner quarter pinch weld is tight against  the door seal, without the door panel or windlace installed. The exterior body panel alignment is perfect. I am afraid I need to go back o the body shop.

does anyone have any pictures of the pinch weld to door gap witout the interior panels?

How about a photo of your problem area?

Sorry it took so long to post this - Hopefully the picture is clear.

Is the front edge of the door even with the rocker edge by chance? This pic looks like the door is too far back and maybe loosening the hinges and moving the door forward to even the edge with the rocker end will fix it.

Mike, thanks for the note - I might be missing something, but the outside gap with the door and quarter are good. If I move the door forward, that gap will be large and I amd not sure I can move the fender forward enough for the front edge door gap.

Whose door weatherstrips? How much compression is available? How much clearance between the door and jamb without them? Cannot fully evaluate using that photo. A repro quarter should be checked for clearance and modified if needed.
